Stefano Chiovelli

Stefano Chiovelli is a Senior Technical Specialist working for Syncrude Canada Ltd. He graduated from the University of Alberta in 1986 with a B.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering and started working at Syncrude in 1987. In 1993, he joined Syncrude R&D. In 1999 he received an M.Eng in Welding Engineering from the U of A. In his time at Syncrude, Stefano has had the good fortune of working on materials issues from across Syncrude’s plant site(s). Some of these issues have lead his group to explore Additive Manufacturing (AM) for use at Syncrude. Stefano is currently on the board of directors for the Holistic Innovation in Additive Manufacturing Network (HI-AM) and Syncrude’s technical leader on several collaborative AM projects with the U of A, InnoTech Alberta and the National Research Council of Canada.
