Lorne Chrystal

Lorne Chrystal has more than 40 years experience in welding, coating consumable and system sales, which assisted him in building a thorough understanding of thermal sprayed and welded coating processes. Lorne began his career in 1980 as a welder’s apprentice, earning a journeyman welder status in 1983 and further attained “B” status with additional small bore tickets in the following year.  These diverse areas of experience greatly add to the technical knowledge he brings to welding, coating and additive manufacturing-related projects.

During the past 30 years Lorne worked hard to develop a successful career in technical sales and sales management for both large and small companies in the Canadian market region. Through his exposure to a large number of clients with very diverse project needs, Lorne recognized a need for a service-oriented supply company.

In 2011, Lorne founded Indurate Alloys Ltd. focusing on thermal sprayed as well as additive manufactured coatings related to wear, corrosion and high temperature service applications with an emphasis on tungsten carbide wear solutions.  The company’s top priority was to be both adaptive and responsive to client needs for information, products and processes.

In 2022 Indurate Alloys Ltd. added additive manufacturing (AM) to its offering, selling powders and equipment to industry and academia in the Canadian market. AM was a clear “next step” in expanding our footprint in Canada and an exciting opportunity to learn about the rapidly adapting AM industry. “I have an interest in AM and believe it provides a great opportunity for rapid prototyping and manufacturing in many different industries. I want to continue to be a part of this emerging market going forward”.
